The Marist Athletics Department is set to host its annual Pink Game on Saturday, February 15th, at McCann Arena, where the women’s basketball team will compete against Merrimack at 4 p.m. This special event encourages fans to participate in a “Pink Out,” donning pink attire to demonstrate solidarity and support for the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, while also promoting breast cancer awareness.
In a visual display of support, the Marist Red Foxes will debut their new Pink Uniforms for this game. These striking “Marist Pinks” are scheduled to be worn on three separate occasions in February by the team. Fans can anticipate seeing the pink uniforms on February 13th against Siena, again on February 15th versus Merrimack, and finally on February 27th when they face Sacred Heart.
Adding a poignant element to the Pink Game on February 15th, the halftime will feature a special on-court ceremony. The Marist Athletics Department and Miles of Hope will jointly honor breast cancer survivors during this tribute. Survivors wishing to be part of this recognition are invited to contact Harrison Baker, Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer for Athletics, via email at [email protected] for further details and participation.
This Pink Game marks the 15th year of collaboration between Marist Athletics and the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Together, they aim to emphasize the critical importance of breast cancer awareness throughout the Hudson River Valley region. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause through a 50-50 raffle held during the evening, with proceeds directly benefiting the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations are also welcomed from those wishing to further support their mission.
Pari Forood, M.P.A., Executive Director of the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the event. “The Marist Women’s Basketball Pink Game, benefiting the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, has become a cherished tradition in the Hudson Valley. We are proud to partner with this remarkable team to underscore the significance of breast cancer awareness and prevention in saving lives,” she stated. Forood further added, “Our sincere thanks to Marist Athletics, and every member of the team for wearing pink and reminding our community about the importance of annual mammograms and adopting healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, to reduce overall cancer risk!”
Grandview Hotel is gratefully acknowledged as the sponsor for this impactful event.
