Since 1977, the Plymouth-Canton Steelers Youth Football and Cheerleading program has been a cornerstone of our community, offering young athletes from Plymouth-Canton and surrounding areas a dynamic and competitive environment. Our core mission extends beyond the field and sidelines; we are dedicated to fostering character, discipline, leadership, and teamwork in each athlete. We strive to cultivate outstanding citizens who embody these values within our community, all while proudly sporting the iconic Steelers Cheer Uniform.
As a proud member of the Michigan Youth Football and Cheer Conference (MYFCC), we operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our program thrives on the dedication of parents and families who are deeply committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching experience for every young athlete. We understand the importance of preparation, and our program is thoughtfully designed to equip young cheerleaders for the challenges and rewards of high school level participation. We offer age-appropriate training regimens that are crucial for the development of fundamental cheerleading skills, ensuring each cheerleader can confidently and skillfully represent the Steelers in their cheer uniform.
Our coaching staff is composed of highly qualified individuals, including seasoned veterans and parents who bring years of cheerleading experience from both high school and collegiate levels. Their expertise is instrumental in shaping our cheerleaders into confident and talented athletes. Each year, our cheerleaders set their sights on the coveted championship title, competing in the MYFCC Super Cheer Competition. The Plymouth-Canton Steelers cheerleaders have consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, bringing home trophies and medals, fostering immense pride within our Steelers community, and showcasing the spirit and dynamism embodied by the Steelers cheer uniform.
Membership in the Plymouth-Canton Steelers Cheerleading program is open to all eligible individuals. Good standing membership is granted upon payment of the annual registration fee, which is $375 for cheerleading. Participants must also meet the criteria established by the MYFCC regarding age, and health, and must have no outstanding debts to the organization. We are committed to inclusivity and providing opportunities for all young athletes who are eager to join the Steelers family and wear the Steelers cheer uniform with pride.
Safety remains our paramount concern. We strictly adhere to the state of Michigan’s sports concussion legislation, ensuring all our coaches complete a comprehensive concussion awareness online training program. Furthermore, every Plymouth Canton Steelers cheerleader and their parents/guardians are required to thoroughly review, sign, and submit a concussion education form (PDF) before participating in any program activities. We prioritize the well-being of our athletes above all else, creating a safe and responsible environment for them to excel in their Steelers cheer uniform.
Our home games and cheerleading events are proudly held at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Complex, located at 401 Church Street in Plymouth, MI, on the grounds of the former Central Middle School. This central location serves as a hub for our Steelers community, where families and supporters gather to cheer on our athletes and admire the spirit and unity displayed in the Steelers cheer uniform.
