LA Kings Unveil New Uniforms for the 2024-25 NHL Season

The LA Kings have officially announced their brand-new, permanent uniforms, marking a significant visual update for the team. These LA Kings uniform sets, designed for both home and away games, prominently feature the team’s fresh primary logo and represent a modern take on classic Kings aesthetics.

Hockey fans will get their first glimpse of the new jerseys this weekend in Las Vegas at the 2024 NHL Draft, where the Kings are set to make their first selection. The home LA Kings uniform will make its ice debut in September when the team hosts the 2024 Rookie Faceoff tournament. Shortly after, the away uniform will be showcased during the Kings’ first preseason game later that month, building anticipation for the upcoming NHL season.

This new black, silver, and white LA Kings uniform collection embodies the evolution of the team’s brand identity. It skillfully blends elements from the team’s memorable 90s era with a modernized crown, a nod to their foundational year of 1967. The silver accents have also been enhanced, adding a refined touch to the overall design of the LA Kings uniform.

Both the home black jersey and the away white jersey share a consistent design framework. A key feature is the enlarged primary crest, now more prominent and centered on the front of the jersey. Player names and numbers on the back of the LA Kings uniform are designed with enhanced contrast, improving visibility for fans in the stands and viewers at home. Additionally, the numbers on the sleeves are positioned higher up towards the shoulders, a subtle yet noticeable design tweak in this new LA Kings uniform iteration.

A standout element of the home LA Kings uniform is the introduction of a matte black helmet. This is believed to be a first for a full-time NHL helmet, giving the Kings a unique and modern on-ice look. Returning partners Mercury Insurance, featured on the jersey, and Blue Shield of California, on the helmet, will continue their sponsorships into the 2024-25 season, prominently displayed on the new LA Kings uniform. The away uniform will maintain the white helmets used last season, providing a visual distinction between home and away kits.

Notably, the Kings have confirmed they will not have an alternate uniform for the 2024-25 season. This means the popular shiny silver helmet, often nicknamed the “chrome dome,” will not be part of the team’s uniform lineup this season, focusing attention solely on the new black and white LA Kings uniform sets.

In a related announcement last week, the Kings officially retired their previous primary logo, which had been in use since 2008 and was initially introduced as part of an alternate jersey. This logo became the team’s primary mark in 2011, coinciding with the team colors of black, silver, and white, which remain unchanged. Interestingly, the Kings wore a black version of that jersey when they won both of their Stanley Cup championships, marking a successful era now transitioning into a new visual identity with the current LA Kings uniform launch.

Further details regarding the 2024 Rookie Faceoff event, hosted by the Kings, will be announced soon. In the meantime, hockey enthusiasts can look forward to the 2024 NHL Draft this weekend, where the new LA Kings uniform will be in the spotlight as the team welcomes its newest players. The Kings currently hold four draft selections, including the 21st overall pick, making it an exciting weekend for the franchise and its fanbase eager to see the team in their fresh look.
