The Arizona Diamondbacks are stepping into the 2024 season with a bold new uniform lineup, unveiled on Friday. Fans can look forward to seeing a refreshed take on the team’s identity across four distinct jersey designs. While familiar colors like white, gray, Sedona red, and black remain, the new uniforms introduce exciting transformations, notably featuring teal more prominently as a vibrant accent color. Purple, a color historically associated with the team, is not part of this new palette. Inside the Diamondbacks’ 2024 Uniform Designs
According to D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall, the 2024 uniforms are designed to blend “retro elements in a bold new fashion with a nod towards tradition.” He emphasized that fan input played a crucial role in the design process, with surveys and focus groups highlighting the enduring popularity of teal alongside Sedona red – a color combination deeply rooted in the Grand Canyon State’s identity.
All four new uniform designs are constructed with Nike Vapor Premier fabric, a cutting-edge material offering 25% more stretch and enhanced drying capabilities, made from 90% recycled polyester. This fabric innovation underscores a commitment to both performance and sustainability.
The revamped black jersey stands out with its removal of sand coloring and the introduction of striking teal piping. The left sleeve proudly displays the snake-and-ball logo, injecting a dynamic visual element.

A significant change is seen in the Sedona red jersey, which now boldly proclaims “Diamondbacks” across the chest. This marks a departure from the “D-backs” abbreviation, which is absent from all the new jersey styles. The word “Diamondbacks” is rendered in black lettering outlined with teal, while the player number shines in bright blue, creating a vibrant contrast.

The primary home uniforms are presented in an off-white shade, featuring the iconic “A” logo prominently lined with teal. This subtle yet impactful use of teal ties the home jerseys into the overall refreshed color scheme.
Complementing the jerseys, the Diamondbacks unveiled a quartet of hats: two in black and two in red, offering fans versatile options to complete their game-day attire.
A Look Back at Diamondbacks Uniform Evolution
Since their inaugural season in 1998, the Arizona Diamondbacks have seen several uniform iterations. Initially, the team sported purple pinstripes, a look that lasted until 2006. Subsequently, they transitioned to the Sedona red and black color scheme. In 2016, an experimental phase introduced snakeskin patterns on jerseys, paired with dark gray road uniforms. The most recent uniform evolution, prior to this 2024 release, occurred in 2020 with Nike, simplifying the overall design.
The subtle shift towards more teal began in the previous season when the D-backs adopted white, black, and teal home jerseys as their primary look at Chase Field, moving away from the previously favored red hats. This gradual incorporation of teal paved the way for its prominent role in the new 2024 uniform collection.
It’s worth noting that MLB and Nike generally limit teams to four primary jerseys plus a City Connect uniform.
