The Brazilian Olympic Committee unveiled the Team Brazil uniforms for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, emphasizing key characteristics of comfort, lightness, versatility, and a strong sense of “Brazilianness”. Designed for peak athletic performance in the demanding conditions of Tokyo, the uniforms were created to embody the spirit and pride of Brazil on the world stage.
On June 3rd, the Canal Olímpico Brazil showcased the sports apparel designed by Peak Sports, the official sponsor of the NOC Brazil. This event, held at the Time Brasil Training Center in Rio de Janeiro, marked 50 days until the Olympic opening ceremony. Ten Olympic athletes participated in the presentation, adhering to strict safety protocols and without a live audience.
Manoela Penna, the NOC’s Communication and Marketing director, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration with Peak Sports. She highlighted the successful integration of technical requirements for Japan’s heat and humidity with a distinctively Brazilian design. The uniforms effectively incorporate the vibrant colors of the Brazilian flag, adding a modern and patriotic touch.
A total of 39,000 exclusive items were produced for the NOC, encompassing a wide range of apparel including pants, sweaters, shirts, shorts, tops, caps, bags, and shoes. Unique features for the Tokyo Games include color gradients on the podium uniforms and the use of finer-textured 100% polyester fibers in training and village wear. These material choices are specifically designed to enhance comfort and performance in Japan’s high temperatures. Casual wear items were also designed for the athletes’ and officials’ daily routines, prioritizing comfort and ease. Adding to the ensemble, Fiber Knit masks, featuring filters and reinforced fabric, were specially created in green, blue, and white, completing the Team Brazil look.
Rosângela Santos, a celebrated Olympic medalist and South American record-holder in the 100-meter dash, shared her positive first impression of the Brazil Olympic Uniform. “Amazing,” she exclaimed upon seeing the uniforms. “Today, I mixed training shorts with a podium shirt. And I’ll just let you know that I want to use it there too. The workout uniform must be comfortable like this.” Her feedback underscored the successful blend of style and functionality in the new apparel.
Cassius Duran, a former Olympic diver and Pan American Games medalist, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the tradition and quality associated with receiving the Olympic uniform. “Since I was an athlete, the ritual of receiving the uniform is one of the things I like the most. These outfits are very nice, every day they become more appropriate, with excellent quality,” Duran noted.
Hugo Calderano, a top-ranked table tennis player and multiple Pan American Games gold medalist, also expressed his aspirations while trying on the brazil olympic uniform. “I hope to be able to use it on the podium in Tokyo,” Calderano stated, linking the uniform to the ultimate goal of Olympic success. The Brazil Olympic uniforms for Tokyo 2020 are designed not only for performance but also to inspire athletes as they strive for excellence on the global stage.
