Adhering to these guidelines is crucial for creating a focused and productive learning environment. Parents play a vital role in ensuring their children comply with the uniform standards daily. All Ckw Uniforms must be purchased from designated suppliers and maintained in good condition, ensuring a proper fit (avoiding excessively baggy attire).
Uniform Guidelines for Boys
General Uniform (Grades TK-8):
Boys in all grades from Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade are required to wear CKW navy shorts or CKW navy long pants paired with a navy polo shirt featuring the school logo.
- A belt that fits appropriately at the waistline is mandatory for pants and shorts.
- Socks should be plain white or black mid-calf crew socks, without any logos or embellishments.
Uniform Guidelines for Girls
Lower Grades (TK-4):
Girls in Transitional Kindergarten through 4th grade should wear the CKW plaid jumper along with a white Peter Pan blouse that has navy piping.
Upper Grades (4-8):
For girls in grades 4 through 8, the uniform consists of a CKW plaid skirt and a white oxford blouse.
- Skirt Length: Skirts must be modest, no shorter than 2 inches above the knee. Rolling the waistband of skirts to shorten them is not permitted.
- Bicycle Shorts: For modesty and comfort, girls are required to wear bicycle-type shorts underneath their skirts and jumpers at all times.
- Socks and Tights: Girls have options for legwear including mid-calf or knee-high socks in white, black, or navy. On colder days, white or black tights are also acceptable.
Footwear Policy
The shoe policy is strict to maintain uniformity and safety.
- Acceptable Shoes: Only solid black or solid white athletic shoes are permitted. These shoes must be free of any colored accents or high-top designs.
- Laces: Shoe laces must be either black or white to match the shoe color.
- Mary Janes and Oxfords: Girls may also wear black Mary Jane or saddle oxford style shoes.
- Prohibited Shoes:
- Patent leather shoes are not allowed.
- Shoes with wheels, lights, designs, or character depictions are prohibited.
- Slip-on shoes, boots, sandals, and open-toed shoes are not permitted.
- Shoes with high heels are never acceptable for school.
Physical Education (P.E.) Uniform
For physical education classes, a specific uniform is required:
- P.E. Attire: Students must wear royal blue P.E. shorts and a gray P.E. t-shirt, both featuring the school logo.
- Cold Weather Options: A navy sweatshirt with the school logo and navy sweatpants can be worn when the weather is cold during P.E.
- Restrictions:
- Sweatpants are not allowed to be worn under the school skirt.
- Shorts cannot be worn over sweatpants.
- Festival T-shirts: Only t-shirts from the current school year’s festival are allowed to be worn during P.E.
General Uniform Regulations
These rules apply to all students and uniform categories:
- Undergarments: A plain white turtleneck or white t-shirt may be worn underneath the uniform for added warmth in cold weather.
- Outerwear: Only the CKW navy cardigan sweater or the official school jacket with the school logo are permitted as outerwear over the uniform.
- 8th Grade Jackets: Current 8th-grade students are allowed to wear their designated 8th-grade jackets. Jackets from previous 8th-grade classes are not permitted at any time.
- Socks Requirement: Socks must be worn at all times, including on free dress days.
- Makeup: Eye makeup, blush, lip gloss, and other cosmetics are not allowed.
- Nail and Body Adornments: Nail polish, acrylic or false nails, nail designs, tattoos (permanent or temporary), body art, bandanas, perfume, or cologne are prohibited at all times.
Mass Uniform Requirements
For Mass days, a more formal uniform is required:
- Boys (Grades TK-8): Boys must wear long navy pants and a white oxford shirt with the designated uniform tie.
- Girls (Grades TK-4): Girls in lower grades should wear the jumper with the white Peter Pan blouse (navy piping) and the criss-cross uniform tie.
- Girls (Grades 5-8): Older girls are to wear the skirt and white oxford blouse, along with the uniform tie.
- Optional Layer: For all grades, the navy vest or sweater with the school logo may be worn over the Mass uniform if needed. Sweatshirts are not considered acceptable for Mass uniform.
Jewelry Policy
Jewelry is restricted to ensure safety and minimize distractions:
- Girls’ Earrings: Girls may wear one pair of post-type earrings. Hoop or dangling earrings are not allowed.
- Boys’ Earrings: Boys are not permitted to wear earrings at any time.
- Religious Items: One religious necklace or bracelet may be worn, but it must be worn underneath the school uniform and be discreet.
- Watches: A plain watch without games or music functions is allowed.
- Prohibited Jewelry: Bracelets, wristbands, and friendship bracelets (non-religious) are not allowed, except for medical identification bracelets. Rings are also prohibited.
- Confiscation: Watches and jewelry that are deemed a distraction to the student or others may be confiscated by school staff.
Hair Grooming Standards
Hair should always be neat, clean, and well-groomed.
- General Hair Care: Hair should be neatly combed and groomed at all times. Bangs must not obstruct vision by covering the eyes.
- Boys’ Hair: Boys’ hair must be short and neatly cut, styled to be around the ears, with ears and neckline clearly visible at all times.
- Hair Coloring: Dyed, highlighted, bleached, or artificially colored hair is not permitted.
- Extreme Styles: Spiked hair, extensions, or any extreme or distracting hairstyles are not allowed.
- Hair Accessories: Small, simple hair accessories are permitted for girls. These accessories must be in colors that match the school uniform.
