Upon receiving the cosplay, it became immediately apparent that the garment is designed with a petite frame in mind. The skirt, surprisingly, was quite long, which necessitated the addition of a petticoat underneath to adjust the perceived length and compensate for its shortness. Counterintuitively, despite the skirt’s length issue, the side straps were prone to slipping off my shoulders with movement. The fabric’s color is notably vibrant, and the polyester material feels rather stiff to the touch.
Conversely, the blouse proved to be the most commendable component of the ensemble. The Peter Pan collar was neatly constructed and fit reasonably well. Although the material of the shirt is thin and lacks stretch, darts were incorporated into the design, providing essential shape and structure. I found myself considering the blouse as a versatile piece that could be integrated into various everyday outfits beyond cosplay.

The accompanying red ribbon was a standard, generic satin ribbon of the kind easily obtainable from any local haberdashery, and its appearance was undeniably inexpensive. Fortunately, I had a spare polyester uniform ribbon on hand, which I dyed red with fabric paint to achieve a more suitable look and feel.
To further enhance the cosplay’s accuracy, I purchased additional red ribbon to adorn a pair of knee-length socks, aligning with the character’s established design. I also applied red paint to a spare watch strap to mimic details from the Evangelion uniform.
Overall, for its remarkably low price point, this Evangelion school uniform cosplay is undeniably charming. The primary drawback lies in the skirt’s unexpectedly short length, especially considering the original anime design features a more modest, knee-length skirt. Given that Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sailor Moon are both quintessential 90s anime with iconic uniforms characterized by knee-length skirts, the inaccurate skirt length and somewhat off-hue color prevented me from being completely satisfied with this purchase in terms of screen accuracy.
