Operational Camouflage Pattern Uniforms Now Available for Purchase

The shift to the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform is underway, and military personnel can now find Military Uniforms For Sale, starting with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) at Tinker Air Force Base. This marks a significant step in the Air Force’s transition to a single combat utility uniform, designed to enhance readiness and effectiveness across all operations.

Airmen initially began purchasing the new uniform at select Exchanges in April, with Tinker Air Force Base being incorporated into the rollout on August 15th. This phased approach ensures that production meets the escalating demand for the new OCP uniform. The launch at Tinker AFB was part of a major sales event, which, according to AAFES Assistant General Manager Rosalina Johnson, generated over $7,700 in sales within the first hour alone.

“The OCP debut was a resounding success during our Grand Slam event,” Johnson stated. “We experienced impressive customer turnout over both days, and we are pleased to have provided a positive shopping experience for everyone purchasing the uniform.”

This transition to a single uniform, replacing the previous system of separate in-garrison and deployment uniforms, was announced last spring by the Air Force. The Army is set to fully adopt the OCP uniform by October 1, 2019, while the Air Force is scheduled for complete transition by April 1, 2021.

The impetus for this change originated from Airmen feedback, consistently highlighting the OCP as the most practical, comfortable, and combat-proven uniform available. Airmen have repeatedly emphasized the OCP uniform’s functionality, and female Airmen have specifically noted its improved fit.

“Having recently purchased my own OCPs, I can attest to their functionality,” said Master Sgt. David Walls of the 552nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. “I’ve heard similar sentiments from other Airmen, who appreciate the uniform’s improvements and its practicality.”

Looking ahead, AAFES is planning to make these military uniforms for sale online starting around October. Furthermore, the Air Force will begin issuing the OCP uniform to recruits in Basic Military Training, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, and Officer Training School starting October 1st, ensuring all new personnel are equipped with the latest combat utility uniform.
