After a shift towards a more classic aesthetic in 2021, the Missouri Tigers football program dramatically changed gears, unveiling a series of fresh and exciting football uniforms for the 2022 season. Each week became an event for fans, eagerly awaiting the uniform reveal. The season showcased a variety of designs, featuring script lettering, striking white jerseys worn at home, and diverse iterations of the iconic tiger logo, all gracing the field for Mizzou.
The experimental approach to the Missouri Tigers Football Uniforms in 2022 was largely well-received. Both players and fans voiced their support for the updated decals and color schemes. While the new uniform sets remained recognizably within the traditional visual language of Mizzou, they offered a modern twist, although some purists expressed a desire for more traditional helmet designs.
This article ranks the best Missouri Tigers football uniforms from the past season, evaluating each look and noting the team’s success while wearing them.
Disclaimer: It’s worth noting that Missouri’s uniform direction in 2022 leaned more towards modern interpretations than classic throwbacks. While personally, I appreciate the modern aesthetic, I also believe incorporating the “Block M” logo more frequently could enhance the uniform sets. Therefore, while this ranking reflects my appreciation for modern designs, I also acknowledge the enduring appeal of the classics and hope to see a true throwback uniform make an appearance at least once each season.

No. 5: Vs. Vanderbilt (October 22nd)
Set-Up: Black helmet with a stripe, Sailor Tiger logo, 2022 gold jersey, 2021 black pants
Record: 1-0
There are specific elements of this Missouri Tigers football uniform combination that I find particularly appealing. Firstly, the Sailor Tiger logo is a fantastic alternate logo that deserves to be highlighted once or twice each season. In my opinion, it achieves peak visual impact when paired with the gold jerseys.
However, the most compelling aspect of this uniform set is the coordinated colored facemask. A crucial element in uniform design, for me, is the consistent presence of the color scheme throughout every component. This uniform excels in that regard, seamlessly integrating gold, black, and white across every detail. The gold facemask adds a vibrant pop to the helmet and beautifully complements the gold jersey, enhancing the overall visual harmony of the Missouri Tigers football uniform.
I strongly advocate for all college football teams to adopt color-coordinated facemasks for every game. While many already do, teams like Illinois, with their white facemasks clashing against their orange and blue uniforms, stand out as examples of where this coordination is lacking and detracts from the overall uniform aesthetic.

No. 4: Vs. New Mexico State (November 19th)
Set-Up: White helmet with gold and black stripe, Gold Tiger script logo, 2022 gold jersey, 2021 white pants
Record: 1-0
It’s undeniably challenging to misstep when working with light colors and white, and Mizzou executed this Missouri Tigers football uniform combination flawlessly. The gold script lettering appears exceptionally crisp and clean against the white helmet. The decision to use a black facemask, rather than gold, was the correct choice in my opinion (although, admittedly, a white facemask on this set would be an intriguing alternative to consider).
This uniform provides another strong example of consistent color integration throughout the entire ensemble. Every color within the Missouri Tigers’ palette is visibly represented at each level of the uniform. My only minor critique would be the potential to incorporate more gold into the cleats to further amplify the gold accents.

No. 3: @ Florida (October 8th)
Set-Up: Gold helmet with black and white stripe, White Tiger script logo, 2022 white jersey, 2021 gold pants
Record: 1-1 (also worn against Abilene Christian)
The Missouri Tigers program clearly recognized the visual appeal of this particular uniform, choosing to showcase it twice during the 2022 season. This made it one of only two uniform sets to appear more than once on the field that year (the all-black uniform against LT and UGA being the other repeated set).
Once again, the combination of gold and white is inherently appealing. This uniform essentially reverses the color arrangement of the No. 4 ranked uniform. However, it ranks slightly higher because I believe the gold helmet works more effectively with this color combination, particularly under sunny game-day conditions. The gold helmet and pants create a striking visual pop on the field, and the white script lettering on the helmet appears remarkably sleek and modern, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the Missouri Tigers football uniform.
A potential refinement I would suggest is experimenting with a white facemask. While the black facemask is a solid choice, a white one could further emphasize the crisp, “frosty” look of this uniform combination.

No. 2: @ South Carolina (October 29th)
Set-Up: White helmet with gold and black stripe, Black Tiger script logo, 2022 white jersey, 2021 white pants
Record: 1-0
The Missouri Tigers secured their most significant victory of the season (based on the opponent’s final record) while sporting a pristine all-white uniform. This marked the first time they had worn an all-white uniform since Week 2 of the 2021 season against Kentucky, and it was undeniably a triumphant return for this clean and classic look within the Missouri Tigers football uniforms repertoire.
This game featured the sole appearance of the black Tiger script logo throughout the season. While it wasn’t my personal favorite color variation of the script logo, the black script effectively served its purpose, providing a strong contrast against the white helmet. The uniform maintains excellent color consistency, with white as the dominant color and gold and black serving as accent colors throughout the entire uniform, resulting in a very polished and professional appearance for the Missouri Tigers football team.
There’s certainly room to experiment with the facemask and script coloring on this uniform. Opting for gold, black, or white for either element could all be viable options. Regardless of the specific color choices, I believe this Missouri Tigers football uniform would maintain its strong visual appeal and overall effectiveness.

No. 1: Vs. Arkansas (November 25th)
Set-Up: Black helmet with gold and white stripe, Gold Tiger script logo, 2021 black jersey, 2021 black pants
Record: 1-0
Ultimately, the Tiger script logo designs dominate the top four positions in this ranking of Missouri Tigers football uniforms. Personally, I found the script logo to be most visually striking when applied to this black helmet, especially when combined with the gold facemask. This uniform set was the only instance where the script helmet decals were color-matched to the facemask, a detail I believe should have been implemented across all of the script helmet variations for enhanced visual cohesion across all Missouri Tigers football uniforms.
Beyond this detail, the all-black aesthetic has become a signature look for Missouri in this “modern” uniform era. Under the stadium lights, the all-black uniform becomes even more impactful and visually impressive. If there is one version of the script helmet that I hope to see return in the upcoming season, it is undoubtedly this top-ranked combination of the Missouri Tigers football uniform.
