The San Diego Padres are set to commemorate their late owner and chairman, Peter Seidler, with a special jersey patch throughout the 2024 season. Details of a public celebration of life event for Seidler in March have also been announced.
Scheduled for March 23rd at 1 p.m. PDT, the celebration will take place at Petco Park. Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event. Attendees will include current and former Padres players, team and league executives, Seidler family members, and local officials.
Admission to the Petco Park event will be free to the public, though digital tickets are required. Fans can claim these tickets starting Thursday, February 29th. Free parking will be available in nearby Padres-controlled parking lots, such as the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot, and Padres Parkade.
The jersey patch that Padres players will wear throughout the 2024 season features Seidler’s initials, “PS,” enclosed within a heart. This design concept originated from Seidler’s children, and the patch will be worn over the heart on the Padres jerseys as a tribute.
The first 10,000 fans attending the celebration of life will receive a complimentary jersey patch. Seating within Petco Park for the event will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For fans who cannot attend the memorial, the “PS” patch will also be available for purchase at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park. Proceeds from patch sales will benefit the Padres Foundation and the Peter Seidler Legacy Projects, which support underserved communities in San Diego and northern Baja California, continuing Seidler’s philanthropic vision.
