Rice Owls Showcase Fresh Football Uniforms for 2024 Season

As anticipation builds for the release of EA Sports College Football 25, set to launch on July 19, college football programs across the FBS are generating excitement by revealing their new uniforms. Joining this wave of unveilings, the Rice Owls have presented their updated football uniforms for the 2024 season.

The Rice Owls officially launched their 2024 football uniforms on Saturday morning, showcasing four distinct combinations. Key players Dean Connors (running back), Tyson Thompson (wide receiver), Josh Pearcy (outside linebacker), and Gabe Taylor (free safety) modeled the new looks. The university shared the reveal across social media, generating buzz among fans and followers eager to see the updated gear.

While the changes are not a complete overhaul, Rice has made notable updates to their Rice Football Uniforms. The jersey numbers now feature a new font, and shoulder stripes have been incorporated into the sleeve design. However, the iconic “RICE” font across the chest remains consistent, maintaining a familiar element. The team will continue to utilize a combination of blue and silver helmets, along with blue and white jerseys. Providing versatility, the Owls will have three pant options: blue, silver, and white, allowing for various monochrome combinations.

The helmet designs remain a key part of the Rice Owls’ visual identity. The blue helmet proudly displays the traditional Old English ‘R’ logo, while the silver helmet features the ‘R’ logo integrated within the outline of the state of Texas, a nod to the university’s location and state pride.

This uniform update marks the first significant change for Rice since 2018. To illustrate the evolution, images of the previous Adidas uniforms worn from 2018-2023 offer a direct comparison.

Fans will get their first in-person look at the new home rice football uniforms when Rice opens the season at home against Sam Houston on Saturday, August 31, at Rice Stadium. The debut of the new road uniforms is anticipated shortly after, potentially on Saturday, September 14, in the annual Bayou Bucket rivalry game against Houston, played across the city.
