ARLINGTON, Va. – The United States Space Force has officially launched its own Physical Training Uniform (PTU), marking a significant step in establishing a distinct identity for the newest branch of the U.S. military. The rollout began on March 8th with the uniform being issued to the latest recruits at Basic Military Training.

Maj. Gen. Steven Whitney, Director of Staff for the Space Force, emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “This is more than a uniform rollout; this is the first finalized service-specific uniform that Guardians can wear with pride.” This new Space Force Uniform is tailored to meet the unique physical demands of Guardians and enhance their training experience.
The space force uniform incorporates several performance-enhancing features designed for optimal comfort and functionality during physical training. The shorts are constructed from breathable, moisture-wicking fabric, specifically chosen to improve airflow and keep trainees dry during runs and workouts. Furthermore, the uniform utilizes a soft, quick-drying material throughout, effectively managing sweat and minimizing odor.

Addressing the need for a better fit, the space force uniform will be available in dedicated men’s and women’s sizes, moving away from the previous unisex design. This ensures a more comfortable and appropriate fit for all Guardians, further supporting peak physical performance.
The introduction of this service-specific PT uniform is a landmark moment for the Space Force, especially as it approaches its fifth anniversary in December 2024.
