However, it is not permitted for social events or liberty activities. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol while wearing the NWU Type III off-base is strictly prohibited. Wear in these restricted areas is only permitted when specifically authorized for a Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) mission.

This regulation applies universally to all Sailors assigned to or visiting Navy elements operating within the Pentagon Reservation. It also extends to personnel conducting official business at the Pentagon, encompassing those on temporary additional duty, attending briefings, making official visits, or carrying out administrative tasks.
Furthermore, the NWU Type III is authorized for commuting to and from work using various forms of public transportation in the NCR area. This includes metro buses, metro rail, rideshares, commuter vans, taxis, ferries, and slug lines outside the Pentagon.
