PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)– September 5, 2023 – Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), a global leader recognized for its diverse services including food, facilities management, and uniforms, has officially announced the name for its soon-to-be independent uniform services business: Vestis™. This strategic move, initially revealed as a plan to separate Aramark Uniform Services (AUS), marks a significant step towards establishing a focused, publicly traded entity specializing in Vestis Uniform solutions.
The name “Vestis,” derived from Latin, directly translates to garments and clothing. It serves as the etymological root for the concept of “dressing” across numerous languages, aptly reflecting the core business of uniform rental services. Beyond its literal meaning, Vestis embodies a deeper philosophy encapsulated in the Latin phrase “vestis virum facit,” or “clothes make the person.” This phrase resonates with Vestis’s mission to provide more than just uniforms; they offer empowerment through apparel and workplace supplies. To clearly define its comprehensive offerings, Vestis will utilize the descriptor: Uniforms and Workplace Supplies.
Kim Scott, President and CEO of Aramark Uniform Services and the designated CEO of Vestis, articulated the essence of the new brand: “Our new name, Vestis, directly connects us to our organizational purpose – to deliver vestis uniform and supplies that empower individuals to excel in their work and contribute positively to others while on the job.” Scott further emphasized commitment to customers, stating, “We are thankful for the trust our customers place in us, allowing us to continually provide services and products that ensure their teams operate with confidence, comfort, and safety every day. The prospect of operating as an independent, publicly traded company fills us with enthusiasm, and we are confident in a prosperous future for our employees, clients, and shareholders.”
Vestis is poised to maintain its comprehensive service portfolio, encompassing not only vestis uniforms but also full-service rental programs and essential workplace supplies. Their extensive service range includes vital items such as floor mats, towels, linens, managed restroom services, specialized cleanroom apparel, and first aid provisions. Upon finalization of the separation from Aramark, Vestis will operate with a robust team of approximately 20,000 employees, catering to around 300,000 customer locations.
John Zillmer, Aramark’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the strategic importance of this announcement: “Today marks a pivotal moment for both Aramark and our uniform services division. We are actively forging two independent industry frontrunners, each strategically positioned to concentrate on their distinct core competencies and specialized knowledge. I have strong faith in the highly experienced leadership team at Vestis and their strategic vision. I eagerly anticipate their continued success in the years ahead.”
Concurrent with the name unveiling, Vestis introduced its new company logo.
This logo presents a striking yet harmonious blend of orange and navy blue, designed to convey both approachability and dynamism, balanced by the company’s established reliability and extensive expertise within the industrial laundry sector. Notably, the logo subtly incorporates the shape of a shirt collar, cleverly doubling as a visual representation of the letter “V” for Vestis. The full transition to this new logo and associated brand elements will occur after the transaction is formally completed. The new vestis uniform brand identity aims to project a forward-thinking and reliable image in the market.
