Before joining Zaxby’s, Karl gained valuable experience through SRVS, Tennessee’s largest provider of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He honed his skills in the SRVS occupational workshop and at various local companies, demonstrating his adaptability and eagerness to learn. For fifteen years, Karl also held a position at another restaurant, further solidifying his experience in the food service industry. Undeterred by the closure of his previous workplace, Karl sought support from the Tennessee Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, who connected him again with SRVS for supported employment services. This led him to employment consultant Deb Nichols, who recognized Karl’s potential and matched him with Zaxby’s.
Deb Nichols, Karl’s SRVS employment consultant, notes his strong work ethic and reliability. “Karl loves his job at Zaxby’s, he always stays on task,” she said. “Being punctual is a must with him and missing work is not an option. He is proud to wear his Zaxby’s uniform.” This pride in his restaurant uniform is symbolic of Karl’s overall dedication and the importance he places on his role within the Zaxby’s team.
Observing Karl at work, his focused and efficient movements around the dining room are evident. He is a man driven by a sense of purpose, finding genuine satisfaction in his contributions. Nikki Trim, the General Manager at Zaxby’s, echoes this sentiment, praising Karl’s work ethic: “He has a great personality and work ethic,” she commented. “He doesn’t stop until the job is done.” This unwavering commitment, combined with his positive attitude, makes Karl an exemplary employee.
