Bid on Game-Worn Hockey Uniforms to Support Breast Cancer Research

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) Athletics is hosting an online auction for special edition Hockey Uniforms to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Hockey fans have the opportunity to bid on unique, game-worn pink hockey uniforms from both the men’s and women’s RIT hockey teams.

The men’s team will sport these distinctive pink hockey uniforms during their home game against Holy Cross on Saturday, February 8th. Following suit, the women’s team will wear their exclusive uniforms for their home game versus Penn State the following Friday, February 14th.

An online auction is now open at ritathletics.com/auctions/, inviting fans to bid on the individual hockey uniforms worn by their favorite players. The starting bid for each jersey is $75, with a “buy-it-now” option available for $250 for those eager to secure their chosen uniform immediately. To check the availability of specific player’s uniforms and place a bid, fans can utilize the search function on the auction website. The auction will conclude on Thursday, February 20th, at 7:00 p.m.

“Breast cancer profoundly impacts countless lives, making it crucial to raise awareness and support for those battling this disease,” stated RIT Executive Director of Athletics Jacqueline Nicholson. “Participating in the auction, whether by bidding on a hockey uniform or purchasing a t-shirt, may seem like a small contribution, but every action collectively strengthens the fight against this devastating illness.”

In addition to the jersey auction, fans attending both games are encouraged to wear pink to show their support. Pink t-shirts will also be available for purchase at both games for $15, with all proceeds also going to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

This initiative is proudly supported by the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, a long-standing partner of the Athletic Department, which annually organizes events dedicated to breast cancer awareness and fundraising.
