Pizza Hut has rolled out fresh crew uniforms, prioritizing team member comfort and style. The updated attire allows employees to wear soft-style T-shirts, jeans, and their preferred sneakers, marking a significant shift in the brand’s image and employee satisfaction.
Kara Barry, Pizza Hut’s director of internal engagement, explained to NRN that this Plano, Texas-based division of Yum! Brands Inc. collaborated directly with crew members in designing the new Pizza Hut Uniforms. This employee-centric approach ensured the final designs resonated with those who wear them daily.
“It was really important to us to make sure that if we were going to redesign our uniforms, that it would reflect our employees’ style, preferences and the current trends,” Barry stated. “We want them to feel good about what they wear at work, so we started by simply asking them what they liked and did not like about the former uniforms.”

The company emphasized that the final uniform designs were team-driven. To refine the choices from an initial design contest, Pizza Hut partnered with a former contestant from the television show Project Runway. Barry noted, “and then once we had the finalists, we put it back out to team members to be the final judge.” This democratic process ensured the new pizza hut uniforms genuinely represented employee desires.
Prior to the design process, Pizza Hut actively sought feedback from its workforce about their ideal work attire. Berry highlighted the key takeaways from employee surveys: “When we surveyed the team members for their input, the top 3 things that came back that they wanted in their uniforms were: color, comfort, casual. And jeans,” she said. “They REALLY wanted to wear jeans.” This feedback loop was crucial in shaping the direction of the new restaurant uniforms.

In addition to modern preferences, the design team incorporated a nod to the brand’s history. “We wanted a combination of vintage designs and fun, modern designs,” Berry explained. “It really is a reflection of the brand — we are so proud of our heritage but we’re also a really fun place to work today.
